Adulting is…using quality cookware. That’s what I’ve learned since starting my “adulting” journey and making my apartment into my first REAL home. Pretty proud of each adult addition I make, including new fluffy towels, quality pots and pans, and bed sheets that don’t look like they belong in a college dorm. It makes such a difference, and really brings a sense of pride when you start to invest in yourself and your home. I’ve been using pans from Made In Cookware, a US based cookware company –  and they are top notch. I swear my… View Post

No brown bag lunches. One of my favorite parts about working from home, is that I can cook myself a fresh lunch, or prepare dinner so it is ready for later.  I’m really grateful that I can take a midday break and whip up something fresh. But that doesn’t mean it’s a long drawn out process. In fact all I really have is about 20 minutes to cook, until I need to move along to the next thing.  But that 20 minute break inspired this recipe, and along with a few simple ingredients, the best… View Post

I’ve really stepped up my hair care game… My hair has been on point these days thanks to the release of Pureology’s new hair masks. I’m excited to be partnering with Pureology this fall to bring you recipes inspired by their newest hair masks. Last month, I featured a Goji Lime Smoothie, and you can check that out here!  Next up is a wintery dessert using chocolate, peppermint and avocado to make a creamy chocolate mint mousse! ** This post is in partnership with Pureology, as always all opinions are my own.   What’s so… View Post

There’s no denying the SUGAR convo is at an all time high. Pun totally intended. I will say, I notice more than ever people are sugar shaming, and I don’t think that’s cool. I still have sugar on occasion and believe it’s totally OK to listen to your body and take things day by day. As we approach the holidays, there are even more sugar-filled treats readily available, so I figured this blog post would come just in time. The greatest lesson is that not all sugars are created equal, and there are much better… View Post

Well, I think it’s safe to say Summer is out and Fall is totally in! I’m a little bummed about it, considering sunshine, trips to the farmer’s market and beach days are some of my favorite things. But fall flavors are in full effect, I’ve got plenty of holiday recipes to perfect, and I’ve been enjoying the fresh chill in the air. **This post was created in partnership with Pureology. All opinions are my own.**   Want to know what else is fresh this season? My hair care routine. My hair has been receiving lots… View Post

Ahh, back to school time! I found myself staring at a sea of notebooks, binders and highlighters the other day while in the drug store, and I’m 25. No classes starting for me… yet I was mesmerized by all the new school supplies. I think there is something about this time of year that gets us “gearing up” to go back to school, or maybe back to reality because summer is coming to an end and fall festivities are on the way. (NOOO say it ain’t so!) I love when it is about to transition… View Post

Protein…no longer just for smoothies.  Hey, I am a donut-aholic. I’ve professed my love for donuts many times on social media, and I ask for them in place of cake on my birthday. I also made this donut recipe last fall and can’t believe that was the last donut recipe I’ve featured on Kaleinit.  So rather than reserving these delicious treats for dessert, I’m cleaning them up a bit for breakfast. I decided to take a stab at making them vegan and gluten-free, and packed with protein so that they’re more satisfying, and not just an… View Post

ways to take care of yourself on sundaze. i loveeee me some self care. we all need to indulge in it. it allows us to recharge for the week and shake off any stress. and if you’re a creative trying to balance “real life” work and creative outlets/passions (in my case, the blog) then you DESERVE it. moms do. students do. dogs do. we all need self care. shit, grab your dog and cuddle – that’s one of my favorite ways to de-stress. I found that when I began setting time aside for myself, my moods remained… View Post

cranberry beet detox smoothie. I’ve been using Love Beets for quite some time because all of their beet products are DELICIOUS and have become a staple in my fridge. I’m really excited to partner with them in creating this super simple and seasonally inspired smoothie. I feel like the holidays provide you plentyyyy to do. Like, go choose a christmas tree, “oooo and ahhhh” at christmas lights, wrap presents, bake cookies, etc. Cooking beets and cleaning up the aftermath?  Eh, not on my holiday to do list, to be honest. Side note- if you know of a… View Post

adulting is hard… this lentil bolognese is not. I’m not in college anymore (sigh), but I do appreciate a simple, no nonsense, 20 minute recipe like this ridiculously easy lentil bolognese. Recently I was on the Actually Adultish Podcast. The hosts, UCLA students Nina and Christina of Addicted To Lovely asked Jess and I a lot of questions about how to stay healthy in college, how to know when you’re exercising is too much (is it becoming an obsession? might be too much!), and more tips for college health nuts.  It really brought me back to my… View Post

the holidays are here!… …and I have not made ANY recipes for thanksgiving. I first off, I apologize. The GOOD Society, and The GOOD festival are keeping me very, very busy. One of the reasons I’m excited for a few days or family, relaxation, and FOOD of course. I realize I am going to need to cook something this week, that”s why I’ve put together a round up featuring some of my favorite bloggers and their incredible Thanksgiving dishes.  I found my favorite for each category. so appetizer, salad, side dish, stuffing, main course, dessert… View Post
