Well, I think it’s safe to say Summer is out and Fall is totally in! I’m a little bummed about it, considering sunshine, trips to the farmer’s market and beach days are some of my favorite things.
But fall flavors are in full effect, I’ve got plenty of holiday recipes to perfect, and I’ve been enjoying the fresh chill in the air.
**This post was created in partnership with Pureology. All opinions are my own.**
Want to know what else is fresh this season? My hair care routine.
My hair has been receiving lots of TLC these days thanks to the release of Pureology’s new hair masks.
The best part of these masks? They feature some of my favorite superfoods. Trust me these masks are delicious (…for your hair, don’t worry).
The masks are the latest addition to their line of color-safe, vegan hair care products, and last week Pureology treated me to a full day of pampering. If you followed along on social media, you might have caught the awesome day on IG stories.
With the help of Pureology Global Artistic Ambassador, Ruth Roche, my hair was transformed with a fresh haircut for Fall, and a mask treatment that left it feeling smooth, strong, and shiny. We ended the day of pampering with superfood smoothies, and I showed the team how a photo-worthy smoothie bowl is built.
Now I MUST share the recipe with you guys!
When we think of superfoods, we typically think of their nutritional benefits, which we’ll cover, but they’re also great for the health of your hair, skin and nails. We’ll cover that, too!
I’m really excited to be partnering with Pureology this Fall to bring you recipes inspired by the masks, and first up, I’ve got the Goji Berry Lime smoothie to pair with the Strength Cure Goji Berry Mask. It’s perfect for anyone who, like me, is not quite ready to let go of the sweet refreshing flavors of summer.
What’s so super about Goji Berries?
Goji berries are pretty great because the provide your body the following:
– As one of the most nutritionally dense fruits in the world, the goji berry contains 21 trace minerals, including calcium, zinc, germanium, selenium and phosphorus.
– FULL of antioxidants, therefore they help boost the immune system and protect the body from inflammation.
– Great for skin health, high in vitamin c (hello anti-aging!)
– More beta-carotene than carrots, making them great for eye health
– Help Stabilize Blood Sugar
As for the mask? I swear my hair feels stronger since using it regularly. It is part of the Pureology Strength Cure line, and is formulated with all vegan ingredients to repair breakage and damaged hair, leaving the hair looking and feeling healthier. Because I have fine hair and often fragile locks, I am seriously impressed and have noticed a difference in breakage since adding it to my weekly routine.
How do goji berries help you hair??
Goji berries boost collagen production which helps the growth and strength of our hair, skin and nails! They’re also rich in amino acids, which act as protein for our hair and adding goji berries to your diet (or hair care products) can help ensure your strands stay strong.
How / How often should you use the mask?
Simple. After shampooing, apply the mask from root to tip and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then rinse! Your hair is going to feel silky and smooth and completely hydrated. As far as frequency, I typically use the mask 1x per week, because my hair can easily become heavy and oily at the roots when I overdo the deep conditioners, but you can use more often if you have extra dry hair!
Now let’s get to this recipe.
This smoothie totally tastes like summer, so keep frozen fruit on hand whenever you’re needing a mini vacay this fall. This smoothie has plenty of frozen berries, goji berries (goji berry powder is easiest to blend!), and tangy lime juice, making it refreshing and packed with antioxidants. Feel free to add vanilla protein powder, chia seeds, or hemp seeds to add even more protein and fiber.
Next month I’m featuring a new superfood, new Pureology mask, and new recipe for you, and we’ll be covering how I keep my hair healthy in the Fall/Winter months. Stay tuned, loves!
